Lecture: Rosalie Gardiner Jones and Women's Suffrage

Picture

Professor Natalie Naylor will speak about Rosalie Gardiner Jones and Women’s Suffrage at the Sunday November 18th meeting of the Historical Society of the Massapequas. Rosalie Jones was a direct descendant of Thomas Jones and owned several properties in the Cold Spring Harbor area in the early twentieth century. She was one of several prominent leaders of the women’s suffrage movement that resulted in passage of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920, giving women the right to vote in all American elections.

Natalie Naylor is Professor of History Emerita at Hofstra University. She taught at the University for many years and has published extensively on women’s history, the suffrage movement and Long Island history. Among her recent publications is Women in Long Island’s Past.

Professor Naylor will begin her talk at 2 PM at Old Grace Church on Merrick Road in Massapequa.  Refreshments will be served. All are welcome to attend.
